From day one, or even before Sparkle was founded, it was clear for me that one thing was crucial: company culture. We all have certain learnings from our career, and for me one of the most crucial things at work is to have fun 🙂. Truly! Of course, we want to be a profitable company. Of course, we want to have interesting, successful projects and excited customers. But if you do not have fun colleagues to work with, you will never truly be satisfied by the work you are doing.
Having experienced what it is like to work in companies where internal politics and competition between individuals are more important than the success of a project, helped me realize this is what matters most.
That is why we have one golden rule, which I agree may sound odd, but we only hire fun people. There is a selfish reason behind it. I simply do not like to work with people that are not fun to work with. And I am convinced that with a bunch of fun people that are obviously also very skilled (being fun is not enough to be hired, it is more a prerequisite to be considered), we will in the end also deliver more successful projects and create more value for our customers. It is a win-win for everyone.
